According to the " Valuers Appraisers and Estate Agents (Amendment) Rules 2000", seventh schedule (Rule 66):
ESTATE AGENCY PROFESSIONAL FEES
(I) Sale or Purchase
| (a) Land and Buildings - (i) 3% on the property selling price - (ii) 3% on the property selling price |
Exclusive 5% government service tax. Minimum fee chargeable: As above but subject to a maximum discount of 30% if the sale price of the property exceeds RM 20 million.
The above scale applies to any sale or purchase by way of private treaty, tender or any other mode of disposal or acquisition.
(II) Lettings

(III) Rent Reviews
50% of the fees chargeable under lettings.
(IV) Additional Claim
In addition to the fees for (I) to (II) claims can be made for:
| (i) | Cost of printing, plans, copies of documents, lithography, travelling (only where the distance between the agent's office and the property is more than 40km) and other expenses actually incurred. |
| (ii) | Cost of media advertisements, signboards, brochures and other promotional material. Note - the above additional claims cannot be incurred by the registered estate agent without prior concurrence of the client. |
